Intro to Dungeons & Dragons

Intro to Dungeons & Dragons

**This is a 6-week course. Your registration fee includes 1 class per week for 6 weeks**

[Fall Quarter / Term I] 9/9/19 – 10/20/19
[Sundays] 12PM – 2PM

Dungeons & Dragons is more popular than it has ever been – but for someone new to the game – getting started can be daunting. Your inner voice might be saying: “but, there are all of these rules, and funny-shaped dice, and people talking in strange voices, and secret-coded character sheets, and everyone knows what they are doing except me, and…”. If any of that sounds familiar and/or fun, then this course is for you!

In this course, you will learn all the skills you need to step into any D&D game with confidence.  We will create your first character and learn the basics by playing the game with other folks who are also new to the hobby. Beyond the basics, you will learn how to evolve your character’s story overtime and gain access to resources to help you continue exploring the hobby.

Materials Fee
n/a, but students should bring a notebook and pencil. Dice and official resource books are not necessary, but will be available for purchase on site.

Teacher Bio: Joshua Watts

In 1981, I received the red box D&D Basic Set as a gift, not knowing that it would turn into a lifelong hobby.  Since then, role-playing games have been a constant catalyst for meeting new people, building ongoing friendships, and creating collaborative entertainment. I have been a professional educator for 22 years and it is a joy to bring that experience to help build inclusive communities where folks new to the hobby can begin their adventures in the world of Dungeons & Dragons.
